Oh My, oh my

I know, we are all sick and tired of hearing about weight loss this and weight loss that. I know I am and I also know I NEED to lose weight!  I've tried it all too, well except for the new and stupid swallow a tape worm deal or stitching a mesh to my tongue.  I still cringe when I remember reading that!  It is pretty darn desperate to do either of those.

No, I would much prefer the easy route like everyone. Take a pill a day and my body balances out. But that is not going to happen in my lifetime I fear, so hey, let's try the HCG drops, or the Atkins diet, or the SouthBeach diet, or the one of many other diet aides or programs that exist.  Even the suggestions from Dr. Oz have been tried. All attempted with the greatest of sincerity.

And don't talk to me about exercise! I have done the crunches, walking, running  (that didn't last!), and I have used my elliptical (and still do for cardio) but that is not the answer.

I really AM sick of it all to the point where I just gave up this summer. I really was tired of it all. I want to be normal like so many others out there that seem to have no issue whatsoever in keeping thin. Unfortunately, I am one of those people who can look at food and gain weight. So, here we go into fall needing to do something to ace my blood tests and the weight check-up in November. And all those diets, grueling workout programs, vitamins, weird recipes, concoctions, and the rest didn't produce long-term fat loss. They were unrealistic and can't be sustained for long-term. No wonder I failed.

Yes, I'm different than all those skinny people who can do pretty much whatever they want (or maybe they too are battling secretly, we will never know.) So I just need to eat differently and figure out the secret. I think I have found it, but I will need to get back to you later and let you know for sure.

The main message of this post is to NOT feel guilty, just eat what our bodies need and it will take care of the rest. Guilt isn't going to help at all. Not loving ourselves will not help either. Live life, be happy, don't distress over the "looks" and comments other may engage in. It does not matter. What matters is yourself.

I am pretty sure if we can eat what our bodies need, the exercise really will not be all that important for weight loss, but IS important for heart health; and we will live to be a ripe old age and still be full of life. This is my goal.

But I had to find another way. So in researching I found that what causes the excess weight isn't that we are naughty or addicts so to speak, but our bodies work differently. Our insulin jumps right in to help us when we don't need it, which causes us to store that energy up for "next time" - and that usually never comes. But I will give you details as I go along, so subscribe / follow my blog to see how I am doing. I'll keep you up to date. Let me test this "new" process for you.

SparkPeople is a fantastic site for all those attempting weight loss. It doesn't matter what program or doctor issued diet reform you are following, they have all the tools you need. I like to use their site for tracking my blood pressure measurements and blood glucose levels for that next doctor appointment. Just print it off and take it in, but they have SO much more to help you with.  So I do give kudos to SparkPeople.com. Give the site a look around and if it looks like something you would like to give a try. Lots of groups, information, helps and tips. All FREE.

This is a book recommended by one of the people in my SparkPeople group. This book is not long and so far seems to be an easy read.  I'm borrowing it from Amazon right now and reading it on my Kindle. You can get it also by visiting Amazon.com and putting the title in the search bar.  (When searching, leave out the "10" because it searches without that. Just use the title in the text below.) It costs $7.99 to purchase for your Kindle reader, or you can borrow it as I did.

I will let you know later more about this book. I've not finished it yet. So far this book has not make any outrageous claims about losing any amount of weight in so many days, and requested no miracle foods. So far so good! (By the way, this is NOT the basis for my "new" nutrition plan, this is just extra help.)
