The Thankful Tree

This is a great project for families, especially with teens. I have done this in the far past using a jar. But, when seeing it again today as a Facebook posting, I felt it was a great reminder to do it again in this fashion. You can modify it to work for however you want to do it. It is the idea of being thankful and writing it down every day and then sharing the thoughts as a group that is important.

I must do something similar to this, this year.
It's a great way to count blessings & there is always something to be thankful for.
You could write them on little leaf tags (or on tags as shown),
and add to a Thankful Tree to share later. ❤️

Some great suggestions and comments from Facebook friends:

  • We do this every year at Thanksgiving dinner. We use different colored leaves cut out of construction paper. As each blessing is added, the more beautiful the tree becomes!
  • Great idea for teachers to put in the classrooms, as well for many places work, church , and our homes.
  • We're each going to write them on paper leaf cut outs and clip them to a cord on thanksgiving with clothes pins (Pinterest idea) can't wait to see what all the guests write ...
  • I have a jar and I write on colorful post-it notes and fold and put them in the jar. Anything positive that happens. (this is what I used to do, but I like the tree idea much more!)
  • You could do this for Christmas with ornament shaped cutouts.
  • Awesome tradition to start as a family. All of us could use this, especially our children. Then they can say the same about their children and pass it on. LOL!
  • This will be great for our grandkids...might help them focus on the important things.
  • I did this at my niece's baby shower - cut out different colored green foam leaves and had each guest write something for the baby and/or parents on it. I didn't buy the expensive branches - I used crepe myrtle branches out of one of my trees.
  • It would be great on Thanksgiving day as well to have everyone who comes for dinner to write one of their blessings to share with you. Don't forget to date it and maybe take a pic as they hang it on the tree for a special memory.
