If you are anything like me, it seems like quite a responsibility to keep something alive! Well, here are some indoor plants that do good, and are notoriously easy to keep alive.

1. Aloe. Aloe is an easy to care for plant that has distinctive elongated leaves that fan out from a central base. The leaves are thick, and full of aloe, that is great for burns. I usually see it in kitchen windows. It’s definitely convenient to have around.
Size: To 3 feet high and 3 feet wide.

2. Peace Lily. The spoon-shape flowers normally appear in the summer, but can also bloom intermittently throughout the year. I love this plant, it’s one of my favorites! I love the big, waxy looking leaves.
Size: To 1 – 6 feet high and 1 – 5 feet wide.

3. Cast Iron Plant. This plant is almost indestructible! It can withstand neglect, low light, low humidity and a wide range of temperatures. It’s perfect for a dark corner. Start with large plants since plants grow slowly.
Size: To 1 – 2 feet high and 1 – 2 feet wide.

4. Chinese Evergreen. Its standout feature is its arching, lance-shape leaves. They usually have silver, gray or shades of green. This plant would look cool as a center piece on your kitchen table. It is slow growing, so it wouldn’t get too big too fast.
Size: To 1 – 3 feet high and 1 – 3 feet wide.

5. Snake Plant. Snake plants can tolerate neglect, and respond really well to good care. They have leathery, sword-shape leaves that grow edged with yellow or white. This plant is great for beginners. I am about to go get one right now! I thing these are so cool looking! (and an aloe, we’re burning too much this summer!)
Size: To 6 – 48 inches high and 6 – 36 inches wide.

Size: To 18 – 36 inches high and 12 – 36 inches wide.

7. Anthurium. The flowers on this plant hold their bright color for eight weeks or more each year. The flowers are typically red, but you can find hybrids in shades of pink, lavender, white and even green. Anthurium flower blossoms make great cut flowers because they last a long time. The pretty, heart-shape leaves contain toxic sap, so make sure pets and children do not ingest them.

8. Christmas Cactus. This plants usually blooms mid to late December. After  it blooms, prune it by pinching or using a sharp knife to cut off several sections. This encourages the plant to branch, creating a fuller plant with more blossoms.
Size: To 2 – 3 feet high and 2 feet wide
