I wasn't so sure that I would like this book Hidden Crossing by Hadley Hoover, but it turned out to surprise me! It began with strangers showing up in this little town in North Dakota and the puzzle was finding out who they really were and why they were there. During the time that I read the book I kept running across hints that there were earlier books in a series before this one... and if not, there should have been. By the time I reached the end of the book it was stated in the Afterword that there were in fact two earlier books, so if you want to read them first, it might be best. Then this book will have a more full feel to it.
Those other two books are Miles Apart and then Uncharted Territory. I would suggest at least reading the second one, Uncharted Territory, before this one, Hidden Crossing. The author, Hadley Hoover, is however, very good at allowing this to be a stand alone book.
I'm adding here too that I was grateful that the book is "clean," in that there is no descriptive bedroom scenes, etc. Not that there are no romantic hints and such, but it was refreshing to have a clean book to read.
This will soon be listed on Amazon after my mother-in-law has read it. Here is what the back cover says about this book, I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
Cate Jones is a woman in love, nearing the pinnacle of happiness she and Luke Larson have awaited for 24 years. She has no time for strangers with shattering news. First comes an unnerving letter, and then a man who walks the streets of Prairie Rose, North Dakota, with his own agenda. He is seemingly intent on making another dream that Cate never dared to dream come true. She is all too aware that on highways and in life, a Hidden Crossing sign means potential danger.
