Honey to Stay Slim

I had to read this entry from "Redbook" when I saw the title.  I've been battling extra weight for years. Let's face it. I am not from genes that give a slender build. So here we go. Another idea that may help. I just glean all the hints I can, try them, and toss the ones that don't seem to help.  This article seems to say the same as others, eat smart, so it is read-worthy, but no big surprises here!

A Spoonful of Honey Keeps the Extra Pounds Away

We know about the sneaky ways sugar worms its way into our diets, and that artificial sweeteners should be avoided at all costs, but an upcoming book takes this all a step further. The Honey Diet claims that by substituting honey for any other sugars consumed throughout the day--meaning cooking with it, sweetening your coffee with it, and indulging only in treats made with it--and eating a spoonful of the naturally-sweet stuff before bed each night, you can drop up to three pounds a week.  Wouldn't that be sweet!

We're always skeptical about any diet that claims one food is a weight-loss miracle, but in digging deeper, this plan is relatively in line with the whole-foods approach most nutritionists and doctors now recommend. Feeding off of the idea that much of the obesity crisis is a result of our reliance on low-fat, high-sugar foods, The Honey Diet argues that when we cut down on sugar and processed foods, we can also eliminate many of the impossible-to-resist cravings they spur.

Alas, it's not as simple as swapping in some honey, and going nuts otherwise. The plan also suggests eliminating refined carbs, skipping all carbs at least one day a week, banning potatoes, and amping up your protein, veggie, and fruit intake. So basically, keep eating healthy. Sweet
