Old Pickle Jars = Beautiful Candles!

Come and see more photos at the HomeTalk page link. They describe exactly how to craft your new-found craft idea!

Old Pickle Jars Up-cycled Into Pottery Barn Knockoffs

Gallon size pickle jars get a new life ... this year. By adding some twine, pinecones, a little faux snow and a pillar candle to a large glass jar I was able to create a very simple, inexpensive Pottery Barn knockoff. They are just the perfect, rustic accents for our little log cabin.
  • Using twine I had on hand, I began wrapping it around the neck of a wide mouthed gallon size pickle jar. I glued it periodically with a hot glue gun as I wrapped it around...
  • Two small pine cones were also hot glued onto each jar.
  • Next I added some epsom salt and a pillar candle into the bottom of the jar. Again, all items I already had on hand.
  • A short walk in the woods provided me with pine sprigs and holly leaves to place under and around the jars to add that little extra.
I must intercede here and ask you to use your imagination. What else can you put in or on the jar?  Think about that.  Now, to see all the step-by-step photos and notes, CLICK HERE to visit the HomeTalk site.

Make Your Own Hurricane Candles

These are so easy and inexpensive! So versatile too!!  I get such satisfaction from making my own things - when I can. Admittedly, at times I just purchase what I want because I realize I'd be in over my head. But these candles are doable!  I am giving you a few photos, but come to their website to see the complete details.

This is all you need....all purchased at the dollar store!
Use a good adhesive and glue the hurricane glass to the pedestal.
Once they're set and dry, add your candle and THAT'S IT!!
I embellished a couple of mine with some beaded garland I found at Hobby Lobby.
The possibilities are endless and seasonless!
